Earlier this week, Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA)
announced details of the soon-to-be-released 2015
VW Golf Sportwagen! With the new model year the 2015 VW Golf Sportwagen is
taking the place of the outgoing VW Jetta Sportwagen. The all-new Golf
Sportwagen offers the versatility of a compact SUV, while being lighter and
sportier than the previous generations. Expected to hit dealerships in April
2015, it will be offered in six trim levels with two different powertrain
options available to consumers. Keep reading to learn more about this exciting

The 2015 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen is offered in S, SE,
and SEL trims, with all models having the option of one of two powertrains: TSI and TDI. The first is an EA888 turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder TSI
engine that generates 170 horsepower and comes paired to a five-speed manual
transmission or a six-speed automatic, while the second is an EA288 2.0-liter
turbocharged and direct injection four-cylinder TDI clean diesel that produces
150 horsepower and comes paired to a six-speed manual or a six-speed DSG
dual-clutch automatic transmission. The EPA estimates that the 1.8T will
average 36 mpg on the highway the manual transmission, while the TDI will get
43 highway mpg.
Regardless of trim level, the 2015 VW Golf Sportwagen
offers a long list of standard comfort and convenience features including a
Fender premium audio system and a Climatronic automatic climate control system.
Drivers are also sure to love the driver assistance features including an
automatic post-collision braking system, forward collision warning, front and
rear parking sensors. There are also several package options such as an
available lighting package that brings LED daytime running lights and an
adaptive front-lighting system.
