Volkswagen Announces a New Trim For the Fully Electric 2015 e-Golf!

Recently, Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) announced a lower priced version of the 2015 Volkswagen e-Golf that will go on sale at participating dealerships. The first fully-electric Volkswagen vehicle is priced nearly $2,000 less than its counterparts without compromising any of what makes it so great: performance, quality, and versatility. The 2015 VW e-Golf Limited Edition is built on the same sporty Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) platform that makes up the rest of the award-winning VW Golf family. It comes powered by a compact electric motor and 24.2 kWh lithium-ion battery that combine to offer 115 horsepower and a class-leading 199 pound-foot of torque. It also comes equipped with a DC Fast Charging with Combined Charging System (CCS) that charges up to 80 percent of the batter in just 30 minutes. It also comes equipped with a 7.2kW onboard charger.

Changes from the SEL Premium model include 16-inch steel wheels instead of the alloys, halogen instead of LED headlights, cloth seating over the leatherette, and no heat-pump system. Standard features across the board include: three driving profiles used to preserve energy (“Normal”, “Eco”, and “Eco+”), keyless access with push-button start, LED Daytime Running Lights, Climatronic automatic dual-zone climate control, front and rear parking sensors, and a navigation system to name a few. The EPA estimates that it will average an estimated Miles per Gallon of Gasoline Equivalent (MPGe) of 126/106 MPGe, city and highway. It also should average a range of 83 miles on a single charge. These ratings make it the most fuel-efficient compact car in the U.S.

Apple Watch App Coming to VW Car-Net Platform!

Earlier this week, your team here at Jennings Volkswagen was thrilled to learn that Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) would be offering features that can be enabled and accessed through your all-new Apple Watch! VWoA announced that sometime shortly, the Volkswagen brand’s telematics system, the VW Car-Net platform, will now be compatible with the Apple Watch via a Car-Net app found in the Apple app store. Keep reading to find out more about this great pairing!

With the Car-Net Apple Watch app, drivers will be able to control several different functions and features that are available through the Car-Net mobile app and Customer Web portal all with a touch at their wrist. The app will allow drivers to keep an eye on their vehicles from afar; remote unlocking and locking while also being able to view the status of the doors, windows, and sunroof to see if they’re open or closed; a map of the vehicle’s current location, which makes finding a parked vehicle a breeze while also providing directions; and the ability to honk the horn and flash the lights. The app also will allow drivers to stay attune to the fuel/charge level as well as helping to set up and monitor speed and boundary alerts for different drivers in the household. Abdallah Shanti, Executive Vice President and Group Chief Information Officer for Region Americas, had this to say about the new Apple Watch app:

Once the Car-Net for Apple Watch app is made available in the App Store, it will be available on select 2014 VW models and all 2015 VW Golf models that are equipped with the Car-Net platform.
