2015 VW Golf and 2015 VW Golf GTI Named to Car and Driver’s 2015 “10Best” List!

The Car and Driver annual “10Best” list features the magazines 10 most favored new vehicles on the market. The editors evaluate vehicles on value, performance, and the ability to satisfy the driving needs of the consumer. In order to be considered, a vehicle must be on sale by January, it must be priced below 2.5 times the average car price for that year, and the vehicle must be provided for testing by September. The editors at Car and Driver had this to say about the two award-winning VW models:

Volkswagen Credit Ranks Number 1 in 2014 U.S. Consumer Financing Satisfaction Study!

The J.D. Power Consumer Financing Satisfaction Study measures and evaluates the satisfaction among consumers who have financed or leased a vehicle indirectly through a dealership or directly through an auto finance provider. Four key factors are considered: on-boarding process, billing and payment process, the website, and phone contact between consumers and providers. J.D. Power conducts the study in two vehicle segments: mass-market and luxury. The satisfaction of consumers is measured on a 1,000-point scale and is based on responses from over 25,000 new and used vehicle purchasers or lessees and responses were gathered between July and September 2014. .

The 2015 VW Golf GTI is the biggest, lightest, fastest, and most efficient generation yet! 2015 VW e-Golf Recognized as the Most Fuel Efficient Compact Car!

A couple of weeks ago, Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) was pleased to announce that their first ever all-electric vehicle to hit American markets was rated the most fuel-efficient vehicle in the EV compact car segment! This car marks the first zero-emissions, fully electric version of the 2015 Volkswagen Golf. It is a key component of the Volkswagen brand’s Think Blue campaign and approach to sustainability and efficiency. Keep reading to learn more!

The 2015 VW e-Golf earned a rating from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at 126/105 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent), city and highway. The EPA also gave it a range of 83 miles. Compared to other compact electric vehicles, these numbers make it the best in the class! It combines all of benefits and practicality of an electric vehicle with the fun-to-drive formula that gasoline-powered 2015 VW Golf models bring. The 2015 VW e-Golf comes equipped with a compact electric motor and lithium-ion battery.

It comes with an 7.2 kW onboard charger as standard equipment that allows the battery to be charged in one of three ways: the installation of the optional 240-volt wallbox that can charge the vehicle in less than four hours, a charging cable that can be plugged into any standard 110/120-volt electrical socket and charge in about 20 hours, and the standard Combined Charging System (CCS) that allows the car to use the SAE DC fast charging infrastructure that charges the battery to 80 percent in 30 minutes.

2015 Volkswagen Golf Family Wins Green Car Reports’ “Best Car to Buy 2015” Award!

Earlier this week, Volkswagen of America (VWoA) was thrilled to announce that Green Car Reports had named the 2015 Volkswagen Golf family its “Best Car to Buy 2015!” Green Car Reports is a leading online consumer resource for eco-friendly and fuel-efficient vehicles. The versatile 2015 VW Golf lineup topped four other finalists.

In order to pick the winner, the editors at Green Car Reports examined all the significant green cars made available to U.S. car shoppers during the 2015 model year, and the 2015 VW Golf lineup came out on top based on new technologies, practicality, and the impact it has on the environment. John Voelcker, editor of Green car Reports, had this to say:

The range of green options in the 2015 Volkswagen Golf range is hard to beat. With more fuel-efficient gasoline engines, a new TDI diesel option that comes close to real-world hybrid mileage levels, and the all-electric VW e-Golf, the 2015 Golf gives buyers a good-better-best menu of options for driving green. 

Drivers can opt for several different options including the TDI Clean diesel models that are available in three trim levels: TDI S, TDI SE, and TDI SEL. The EPA estimates that when equipped with the six-speed manual transmission, it will average 30/45 mpg, city and highway, and an equally impressive 31/43 mpg, respectively, with the six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 2015 VW TSI models come powered by a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that should average 25/37 mpg with the five-speed manual, and 25/36 mpg with the six-speed automatic.

2015 Volkswagen e-Golf Hitting U.S. Markets Soon!

The 2015 VW e-Golf is set to hit select dealership lots later this fall in November! It will be the first ever all-electric, no emissions new Volkswagen vehicle to hit U.S. markets, and here at your Chicagoland VW dealers, Jennings Volkswagen, we couldn’t be more excited to tell drivers about it! While it differs from the fuel-powered 2015 VW Golf models with its all-electric motor, it offers the same combination of refinement, performance, and feature-packed interior as the gasoline and diesel-powered models.

The four-door hatchback comes powered by an electric motor that generates 115 horsepower and 199 pound-foot of torque, which is sent to the front-wheels through a single-speed transmission. VW states that the 2015 VW e-Golf can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 10 seconds, and that it can go from between 70-90 miles on one full charge. Speed tops out at around 87 mph. Drivers can also choose between three driving modes: Normal, Eco, and Eco+, chosen to prioritize performance or efficiency. Eco mode will extend the driving range, while Eco+ conserves energy by limiting the motor to 74 horsepower and places a top speed of 56 mph. It comes with a 7.2 kW onboard charger that will fully recharge the battery in four hours.

Features include 16-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise control buttons, and a 5.8-inch LCD touchscreen system with navigation, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, satellite radio, a rearview camera, and rear parking sensors to name a few! 2015 VW e-Golf to Hit the States Come November!

Last week Volkwagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) announced that the brand’s first ever all-electric vehicle will be hitting certain lots on the East and West Coasts come November! The 2015 VW e-Golf will join the Volkswagen brand’s extensive VW Golf family of sporty, fun, and versatile hatchbacks. To learn more about this zero tailpipe emission vehicle, keep reading here!

The four-door 2015 VW e-Golf seats five and comes powered by 24.2 KWh lithium-ion battery that generates 115 horsepower and 199 pound-foot of torque. It comes standard with a 7.2kW onboard charger. A Combined Charging System allows for 80 percent battery charge within 30 minutes. Three driving modes are available that can preserve energy/mileage: Normal, Eco, and Eco+. There are also three driver-selectable regenerative braking levels that will help determine range. Depending on driving style and charging behavior, it will average a range between 70-90 miles.

It comes built with plenty of cargo space (93.5 cubic feet), and loads of onboard features, including a 5.8-inch touchscreen with navigation systems and an infotainment center. Additional features include dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, automatic post-collision braking system, LED headlights, keyless entry, heateable front seats, and a rearview camera with front and rear park distance control. A new Roadside Assistance program and VW Car-Net e-Golf app are available and designed to make owning the 2015 VW e-Golf a reassuring, rewarding, and enjoyable experience.

Last month, just one month after hitting dealership lots across the United States, the all-new 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI was named the winner of the Cars.com’s first ever “Cheap Speed Challenge!” The challenge focused on compact coupes, sedans, and hatchbacks that cost less than $30,000 and features the different tech and convenience features that drivers expect out of a car these days! New Midsize VW SUV to Be Produced in Chattanooga!

Earlier this summer, Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) was really excited to announce the production of an all-new midsize SUV that will be produced at the Chattanooga VW plant in Tennessee. VWoA plans to invest around $900 million in the production of this newly developed, seven-passenger SUV. The all-new midsize SUV will be the second VW model to be produced at the Chattanooga based plant, in addition to the U.S.-built Passat, and will hit the production line starting at the end of 2016. We are now launching the second phase of Volkswagen campaign in the U.S. With the midsize SUV, the expansion of the Chattanooga plant and the new development center, the focus is on the wishes of the U.S. customer."

2015 VW Golf TDI Named 2014 Northwest Green Vehicle of the Year!

Last month, Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) was pleased to announce that the all-new 2015 Volkswagen Golf TDI was named the Northwest Green Vehicle of the Year for 2014 and that it won the Alternative Fuel category by the Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA) during the second annual Drive Revolution event in Portland, Oregon! Top automotive journalists from the Pacific Northwest evaluated the most technologically advanced and fuel-efficient vehicles on the market, and selected winners in four categories.

The 2015 VW Golf TDI comes powered by an EA288 TDI Clean Diesel Engine that combines performance, fuel efficiency, and value. The 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injection four-cylinder TDI Clean Diesel engine can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. VW Keeping Busy for 2015 Model Year!

The 2015 model year is going to be a big one for Volkswagen! Volkswagen Group of America Helps Clean Up National Mall!

Last weekend after the July Fourth celebrations, Volkswagen Group of America, (VWGoA), Inc. volunteered more than 250 hours of service to help clean up the National Mall in Washington D.C. after the Fourth of July fireworks and celebration activities. VWGoA also provided a 2014 VW Touareg Hybrid to support the Trust for the National Mall in its ongoing clean-up and volunteer activities done in order to keep our National Mall the beautiful sight that it is today! The 2014 VW Touareg Hybrid was wrapped with the Trust for the National Mall’s logo and is intended to be used by the volunteer organization to raise awareness for its mission to provide hands in support for the continued restoration and the upkeep of the most iconic strip’s of America’s real estate. 2014 VW Passat Combines Comfort, Safety, and Style!

The most powerful engine option is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that makes 280 horsepower, comes paired to the six-speed DSG transmission, and should average an EPA-estimated 20/28 mpg, city and highway.

The base trim offers cloth seats, while moving up trim levels provides more options such as leatherette seats, leather trimmed seats with faux suede inserts, heated front seats, and power-adjustable front seats. Both the front and back seat offer plenty of legroom and comfort. Standard interior features include Bluetooth, an auxiliary audio input, and automatic headlights. Depending on what trim level or optional features you choose, it can be stocked with the VW brand’s Car-Net connected telematics entertainment and safety services, a rearview camera, navigation with a touch-screen display, HD Radio, satellite radio, a sunroof, remote start, push-button start, and dual-zone automatic climate control to name just a few options. Two Volkswagen Models Earn Prestigious Top Safety Pick+ Designation!

Last week Volkswagen of America, Inc. was thrilled to announce that two—the 2015 Volkswagen Golf and 2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI—of its top-selling vehicles earned the coveted 2014 Top Safety Pick+ designation from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS). For this year’s ratings, earning the designation became even harder than in previous years. Keep reading to find out more!

In order to earn a Top Safety Pick+ designation, you must first meet the criteria of meeting the equally prestigious, but slightly less challenging Top Safety Pick designation. To earn the Top Safety Pick designation, you must score the top score of Good in the IIHS’s moderate frontal overlap, side impact, roof strength, and rear crash protection tests as well as a Good or an Acceptable (the second highest rating) in the very hard small overlap frontal crash test. To receive the Top Safety Pick+ rating, you must meet the Top Safety Pick criteria, as well as earn a basic, advanced, or superior rating in front crash prevention. This takes into account the new technological safety features on vehicles.

Safety features on both these models include both passive and active systems that have been engineered to meet or exceed all current crash regulations. They both feature a number of electronic and mechanical Driver Assistance programs, including an automatic post-collision braking system, electronic stability control, traction control, multiple airbags, forward collision warning, and front and rear park distance control systems.

2015 Volkswagen Golf: Back and Better than Ever!

Electronic features include full power accessories, power side mirrors, air-conditioning, Bluetooth phone connectivity and audio streaming, and iPod integration. The most significant upgrade to previous generation is a new 5.8-inch touch screen infotainment system that offers a navigation system, and smartphone integration. Interior comfort features include premium leatherette seating surfaces, cruise control, VW Car-Net connected services, a leather-wrapped handbrake, shifter knob, and a multifunction steering wheel that includes buttons for cruise and audio controls, and partial power seats. Depending on what trim level is chosen, models can be equipped with heated front seats, a rearview camera, premium audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless access with push-button remote start, ambient lighting, and heated seats.

One Tail at a Time is not your normal rescue operation as they rely solely on their network of altruistic households and families to provide a foster home for these pups until their forever homes are found. They operate this way to make sure that each dog is well-loved and treated well while waiting for permanent placement. This method also helps them keep their operational costs down so that all donations can focus on the dogs needing help.
