The 2015 VW GTI can seat up to five and comes in two different configurations: a three- and five-door hatchback. Both configurations are available in three trim levels: S, SE, and Autobahn. It comes powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 210 horsepower and 258 pound-foot of torque. If you add an available performance package, output increases 10 horsepower. It comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, while a six-speed automated manual is available. The EPA estimates that it will average 25/34 mpg, city and highway, which is great for an upscale small car.

Not only does it offer up impressive performance, it also earned top-notch safety scores. In testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the 2015 VW GTI earned the coveted Top Safety Pick+ designation after it earned the top score of Good in all five of its crash tests: moderate-overlap frontal-offset, small-overlap frontal-offset, side impact, rear crash performance, and roof strength tests. Optional advanced safety features include a rearview camera, rain-sensing windshield wipers, forward collision warning, and rear parking sensors.
